In 2015, Sayulita was designated as a Pueblo Magico, because the town has amazing heritage and charm that visitors love. If you will be vacationing in Puerto Vallarta soon, then you should visit Sayulita, a hidden gem near PV.

Sayulita – Pueblo Mágico

On the beautiful Pacific Coast of Mexico, just forty minutes from Puerto Vallarta is a charming and quaint coastal town called Sayulita. Surfers along with vacationers love this vibrant town. During September of 2015, Sayulita was appointed a Pueblo Magico at the Segunda Feria Nacional de Pueblos Mágicos in Puebla. Talpa de Allende and Mascota, which are villages in the region, were also given the Pueblo Magico award along with twenty-eight other towns. Pueblo Magico in English means “Magic Towns”, and the Mexico Tourism Board started the designation in 2001 to reward magical towns in cities in Mexico. Towns must meet three requirements to become a Pueblo Magico. Firstly, the town must be aesthetically pleasing such as having roofs or balconies that are painted in the same color (the National Institute of Anthropology and History must approve color choice). Secondly, the towns must have a cultural identity that will focus on locally made crafts, etc. Lastly, the town must have a village square that is beautiful and attracts visitors. When a town is appointed the Pueblo Magico, then the town receives additional financial support to increase tourism, too.
